Brand system · v0.1 · workshop view

The work behind the name.

This page exposes the workshop behind the brand system: every candidate name, every logo variant, every palette token, every tagline under consideration. It is the decision-aid the KFSHRC Program Office, BOD, and Royal Court advisors use to review the identity work before Phase B locks the system. Nahda Cellworks (نهضة) is the recommended primary — a modern Saudi-civic name that encodes biotech sovereignty as a chapter of the national renaissance opened by King Faisal's modernization and carried forward by Vision 2030. The biotech-vocabulary backstops (Nawah, Tahdith, Riyadh) are documented here so the recommendation can be tested against them.

01 · Name candidates

Re-scored against KFSH-fit, not against generic identity criteria.

The 28 May BOD slate tested heritage-figure names (Hayyan, Razi, Avicenna) against generic identity criteria. Re-scoring against KFSH-fit — Saudi anchor + Academic-Hybrid CDMO register + bilingual ownability + religious/geopolitical-neutrality — surfaces a stronger anchor: a modern Saudi-civic concept (نهضة / nahda) rather than a historical figure rooted outside the Kingdom. The biotech-vocabulary backstops (Nawah, Tahdith, Riyadh) test the recommendation from three different angles.

Nawah Cellworks — cell nucleus mark and wordmark lockup

Nawah Cellworks

4.20 / 5.00 weighted

"Nawah" (نواة) = "nucleus / seed". Direct ATMP vocabulary: the cell nucleus is the locus of gene therapy; the seed is the source of regenerative biology. Dual-meaning encodes both halves of the CGT universe in one word. Biotech-precise, secular, no historical baggage.

Riyadh Cellworks — Najdi triangular lattice mark and wordmark lockup

Riyadh Cellworks

4.10 / 5.00 weighted

Geographic anchor: the city of Riyadh (الرياض, "the gardens"). Playbook: the same naming logic as Boston Scientific, London Stem Cells, Cambridge Bioscience — claiming the city as the institutional anchor. Visual mark uses the Najdi triangular pointed-arch lattice (Diriyah, Riyadh Metro register). Direct, unambiguous, secular.

Tahdith Cellworks — ascending-bar modernization mark and wordmark lockup

Tahdith Cellworks

4.05 / 5.00 weighted

"Tahdith" (تحديث) = "modernization / renewal / making-new" — the verb-form of nahda. References the King Faisal-era Saudi modernization programme (1960s–70s) and Vision 2030's modernization framing. Visual: ascending bars (graduated progress). Secular, modernist-civic, no religious resonance.

03 · Colour palette

KFSH-adjacent green-and-gold.

Mirrors KFSHRC's institutional green-and-gold register rather than competing with it. Builds parent-institution affinity. Navy is preserved as the typographic ink layer so the register stays serious.

Comparison · against the alternates considered

Navy & warm gold 28-May BOD direction

Original "scientific-modernist" register from the BOD identity deck. Reads as MD Anderson / NEJM. Reserved for the BOD pitch deck only — competes with KFSHRC's own green hierarchy in side-by-side use.

Saudi national green Not recommended

Direct flag reference. Reads as state institution rather than affiliate. Reserved for Royal-Court ceremonial collateral only — risks signalling sovereign mandate where commercial neutrality is needed.

04 · Typography

Noto Sans · the KFSH parent stack.

Mirrors KFSH's live web register exactly. KFSH's proprietary KFSH typeface is unavailable externally; their fallback is Noto Sans / Noto Sans Arabic, which we adopt as the digital standard for the affiliate. Cormorant Garamond + Amiri remain candidates for editorial print collateral.

05 · Tagline candidates

Six directions under consideration.

Phase B narrows to one. Each candidate is a different angle on the same brand: heritage anchor, geographic anchor, methodology anchor, mission anchor. The recommended primary is the first; alternates exist so the choice can be tested rather than assumed.

Alternate
The Riyadh fab for cell and gene therapy.
Geographic + function anchor. Direct, unambiguous on category. Reads more startup than institutional — better as a sub-tagline or BD-deck hook than as primary.
Alternate
Method first. Manufacturing always.
Methodology anchor. Bridges the academic-hybrid model — research methodology + manufacturing discipline. Reads more abstract; pairs well with capability collateral.
Alternate
The convening institution for MENA cell therapy.
Mission anchor. Mirrors the Operating Plan's Year-5 mix language. Reads more BOD than external — held for internal communications and Royal Court collateral.
Held · collateral copy
From Saudi research to Saudi cure.
Sovereignty + mission arc. The full-stack claim: Saudi-discovered, Saudi-manufactured, Saudi-administered. Reserved for hero-section copy, brand-story sidebars, and signing-ceremony collateral.
عربية · Arabic
صناعة الخلية، بدقة الميراث.
"Cell manufacturing, with the precision of heritage." Held for Arabic-first communications. Final Arabic copy validated by Riyadh-based copywriter in Phase B.

06 · Voice register

MD Anderson, not Moderna.

Reserved · evidence-led · third-person. The reference register is institutional teaching-hospital, not biotech startup. Vision 2030 alignment lives in the brand story, never in the slogan.
